ECU Reunion 2007 Report

And so…. ECU Reunion 2007 has come and gone – or has it?

Events that are birthed in the Potter’s house never really pass away; for the eternal God who appointed such times and seasons is more than able to bring the fruits thereof to manifestation in individual lives. Its time to start stretching your faith; believing God for greater things, taking strides and leaving the dunghills of the past, because believe it or not, in this season, God has implanted into the DNA of every member of the ECU Family the STRENGTH TO MOVE FORWARD!!!

ECU Reunion 2007 started on Saturday 19/10 in London, as brethren came together to have a great time with the Lord. This biannual event continues next April, so if you are in the UK/Eire, you oughta be there. With the cost of flight getting cheaper, it is not a long stretch to expect EU-based brethren to be there come April, is it? Visit www.ecuife.org. uk for updates.

Thursday 25/10 was time for a great outreach with Evang Gboyega Shitta, and great was the time we had with the Lord. Lives were changed, yokes broken and people in the community blessed. Evangelism is the hallmark of ECU, and this was a great time of reaching out and using the Reunion as a great opportunity to get in the trenches for a little while and spread the gospel.
From Friday Night to Sunday morning, we had a great time. Brethren turned up and our ministers and resource persons were not left out. We benefited from the ministries of Rev Dr Mike Oye, Rev Austin Ukachi, Rev Tony Akinyemi, The Osewas, Dr Tope Oni, Rev Rotimi Andu and many others. Above all, the essence of reunion which needs no explanation as the word says it all, was achieved – we fellowshipped, made new friends and connections, and had a great time. Some of us also took time off to meet with our subgroups, visit with the Vice Chancellor, and our Prof Kehinde.

Please visit www.ecuife.org. ng to download some seminar materials and pictures from the Reunion; we will have them there before Dec 1. However, all the pictures of the Reunion are available on CD for N750 and all messages of the Reunion are available in MP3 format on a disc for N1000. Please factor in express postage costs [N1500 within Nigeria, N4000 abroad] and send a request to ecuifealumni@ yahoo.com. You can pay into ECU Ile-Ife’s GTB Account 491448949110.

While we are on this, let me inform you that our website is now a fully fledged community site and you are invited to sign up, join our forums and upload pictures etc. Your input is critical to keeping it fresh, active and alive, so get to www.ecuife.org. ng from time to time, and don’t be too holy to comment on it…

Highlights of the Family Meeting
We deliberated on a lot of issues during the Reunion, mainly the need for us to reach out to our brethren and take an active interest in praying for and encouraging one another. The seminar given by Uncle Samson Osewa was also of great blessing to marriages and relationships.
During the next 2 years, we would be focusing on bringing up the Chapters of ECU Alumni all over the world. It is very important to fellowship once in a long while with people from the same source who are contending for the faith in the midst of the growing issues around the world. The cooperation of brethren for this was solicited.

We also deliberated on assisting the student fellowship to take a huge step forward by co-facilitating the purchase of a 32-seater bus. After much deliberation, we decided that a new bus was best, and that the executive should work on the modalities of getting one for the student fellowship within 2008. We will all work together to achieve this aim as it will add a dynamic direction to the outreach to youths and secondary schools around.

A critical issue that was examined is the impact of Environmental Sanitation on attendance at Reunion. After deliberations it was agreed that the next Reunion should hold on the weekend before environmental sanitation – so watch out, one more excuse for not attending Reunion is done for!
Ah… elections. In a short and blessed election, all first-time executives were summarily returned to office for a second term, while worthy brethren were elected to fill the three thus-vacant positions of Secretary, Asst Secretary and PRO.
The new executive is as follows:
President            -              Dr Tope Oni
Vice President   -              Bro Sola Olayanju
Gen. Secretary  -              Seyi Adeyemo                   2000 Set / Choir / Ibadan
Asst Gen Sec      -              Gbenga Akintan                               1996 Set / Drama&Organising/ Lagos
Treasurer            -              Bisi Olugasa
Fin Sec                  -              Bidemi Temisanren
Reunion Coordinator -    Sis Tokunbo Osasona
PRO                       -              Ayo Adedeji                       1998 Set/Drama/Lagos

Please join me to welcome our three new executive members.
The new Secretary and PRO will be getting in touch with you in due course, but let me take this moment to express my appreciation to you firstly for taking the time to read our missives, and for responding positively. In one way or the other, you have made this body what it is today with God’s help. More of this would be required in future, and I am sure that the same hand of fellowship which I have enjoyed for most of the 21st Century would be given to our incoming PRO. The same team that has assisted in all things technological are still in place going forward.
God be with you – and see you at Reunion 2009!
